Looking Back, Moving Forward: AHSHAY’s 2025 Progress Report

Last updated 11/24/2025

As 2025 comes to an end, we’re excited to share our 2025 Progress Report. This past year has been one of reflection, growth, and purposeful action at AHSHAY. As we look back, we’re reminded of the importance of understanding where we’ve been to guide where we’re headed: toward a future where youth incarceration and homelessness are unimaginable.

Many of our new efforts this year grew directly from insights gathered through our Fortifying Futures project. The ideas generated by Fortifying Futures participants have since become the foundation for real strategies and meaningful change.

Highlights from the past year include the initiation of a new narrative strategy aimed at reshaping how people perceive key policy issues and the language that drives these policies. Additionally, we co-created a documentary with students from Garfield High School and launched a Storybook project that pairs youth who have experienced various forms of trauma with authors. We also published a study challenging misconceptions about closing youth detention facilities. Looking ahead, we are preparing to launch the King County Youth Wellbeing Project in 2026 to create a broader infrastructure to prevent youth incarceration and unstable housing, rooted in community leadership.

We invite you to read the report to learn more about our work. Thank you for your continued support as we build a future where every young person can thrive.
