Mira Menon
THEY/THEM
Mira is passionate about relationship building. With a background in public health, they are experienced in community engagement with unhoused individuals as well as facilitation of youth and young adult learning rooted in critical race theory. Their interdisciplinary approach centers lived experience and active listening as foundational to liberation. Mira believes in the value of community as a resource of joy and belonging, both of which are tools necessary for collective action in pursuit of equity. They are committed to fostering spaces where young people can recognize their brilliance and self-advocate to shape their world, spaces without which Mira would not have found the relationships and goals that continue to motivate them today.
Outside of work, Mira is an avid tango dancer and enjoyer of horror comedies. You’ll find them swimming, reading, making crosswords for friends, or enjoying a siesta with their cats.
“In the long run, the people are our only appeal. The only ones who can free us are ourselves.”
― Assata Shakur
“Without new visions, we don’t know what to build, only what to knock down. We not only end up confused, rudderless, and cynical, but we forget that making a revolution is not a series of clever maneuvers and tactics, but a process that can and must transform us.”
― Robin D.G. Kelley
